2-9-07 What great fun I had popping in for a quick visit to Hillside Elementary to give our second runner up Saswat Sahoo his gift. It was great to chat with such a wonderful group of writers! Nothing is more touching than to see these students in their re-built libraries in Nichols and Gorenflo Elementary Schools in Biloxi, Mississippi. After the horrible events of hurricane Katrina, Darrin and I contributed cases of books to help them stock their shelves, so these beautiful, peaceful pictures of children having a place to read again means so much to us! Also, if you look closely, their t-shirts say 'Home Again.' We're so glad that we could help. Thanks Merrie Campbell for contacting us! |
