What a way to release a new book...nothing
better than the Rockford Reading Festival! Click on the
photo's
button and see all the great pics! We had such a great
time. There were performers and characters, authors and
illustrators...and we all know that there is nothing
more important than reading - and when you combine it
with a fun summer festival - it's a great time!
And, like we said, we are happy to release
Ghost Board Posse #2 Aloha Haunts , which should
be hitting your favorite bookstore sometime this week.
It's filled with horrifying, tiki zombie warriors, and
the posse is in for a huge challenge this time. So, as
we move into the last month of summer vacation - do
yourself a favor and on those hot summer nights, whether
you are camping, on vacation or just hanging out at home
- pick up a fun scary book! You'll have fun reading the
scary thrilling adventures of Mick Morris Myth Solver
#'s 1-5 , or shiver along with the frightening
skateboarding and surfing tour of the Ghost Board
Posse - either way, it's fun and you'll even brush
up on your reading skills for school. I know,
'school'...but there is still a month left of summer
fun, and reading to go
6-9-2010
The countdown to the last day
of school has begun! We can't wait because we love
summer...and you know why? It gives us a lot more time
to read scary books - especially sitting on the deck at
night, or camping in a tent with a flashlight! And,
speaking of tents and camping there is a super scary
part in the next Ghost Board Posse #2 Aloha Haunts, just
like that! This book will be hitting book store shelves
by the end of July, but Mr. Brege's drawing of one of
the books masked tiki warrior zombies, that is
half-flesh and bones, gives you a hint as to just how
over-the-top scary this book is!
Mick recently
finished his second bullying animated movie
"Victim." Click here
to check it out!
Enjoy your summer, my fantastic
reading
friends!

We
have had such an awesome last few months visiting so
many wonderful schools, along with the Michigan Reading
Association, St. Clair RESA's Young Author's Day, and
wrapping it all up with the fantastic Claire's Day in
Ohio. The only thing though, is that it really
saddened us to see how many of our schools are laying
off one of the most important people in the schools –
the media specialists! We want our children to be
literate – it's imperative, and reading is one of the
most important skills a child can have – adults,
too! So, speak up – everybody; save your schools
media specialists and libraries (and the arts, too).
Write to your local government. Let's all make a
difference ! And since summer is just around the
corner, be sure to make a difference in your own life!
Read, read, read! Read scary, read, funny, read anything
that excites you, but do yourself a favor and read
on!
5-2-2010
As you know we were busy in the last couple
months visiting schools, and hopefully we had the
opportunity to visit yours! If we did, and you
emailed us your terrific
artwork to post on this site - it is up now, and
thanks!
Many of you know I have also been
busy writing, finishing up the next Ghost Board
Posse book #2 Aloha Haunts...and I
promise you this one will be just as scary - if not more
scary than the last! Just a little heads up (for any of
you that are over 10 years old and allowed to read these
scary books) this one takes place in Hawaii and features
lots of gruesome zombie warriors. Ghost Board Posse
#2 Aloha Haunts hits the bookstores in June.
For our Mick Morris fans, Mick Morris Myth
Solver #6 (which will have some scary stuff, too)
should be out by late August. As you can see in the
picture, Harry our cat is anxiously awaiting the next
Mick Morris Myth Solver book, too, because he
loves birds - can you guess which myth this one is
about? To keep him busy, he keeps re-reading Champ
- because of the giant lake monster Champ - he thinks
it's a fish!
4-23-2020
As we wind down from our fantastic,
whirlwind Reading Month (s) Tour 2010, we just have to
say that we had a blast! At almost every single school
we were greeted with open, welcoming arms. The
principals, teachers, and media specialists showed us,
through their manners and graciousness, how they instill
it in you guys. So, thanks to everyone for some of the
best school visits that we have ever had! Also, a
special thank you to Lauren (in the pic) for rallying to
bring us to her school. Remember you can do it too, if
you want us to visit your school, just let us know, or
let your teacher or media specialist know.
Mr.
Brege said for those of you who have drawings that are
waiting to be posted, they'll be there soon! Read, draw
and write
on!
4-19-2010
Hey! Where did spring go? It seems to have
gone the way of reading month...but thanks to all of the
awesome students that we've had the pleasure of meeting
in the last two months (and that means you!) we can tell
that you'll keep reading. We also know how successful
you are going to be, because of it. And for you guys who
like to read, be sure to follow us on Twitter. Some
of you have met the real Mick, and he plans on Tweeting
to you, too! So sign up
today!
4-5-2010
Always hate to see Reading Month come to an
end, so it gives me a good excuse to go out and get more
books and make April Reading Month, too! For those of
you we got to visit- what fun! And for those of you who
we will be meeting in April - we can't wait! Hope that
everyone is getting outside and enjoying the fantastic
weather! Spring has sprung...so go have some fun!
3-25-2010
Reading Month may be coming to an end...but
we are happy to say that all the students we met are
smart enough to know that reading should be a part of
your life every day, month and year. Also, a really big
thanks to all the teachers that get behind our visits
and inspire you guys to keep reading - you know what a
difference it will make in your life! And, as we near
April, we are happy to say that we are still super busy
with schools, those that believe whether it's reading
month or not, it is so important to be inspired.
Sadly though, on our visits we met many teachers
and librarians that are losing their jobs, but you know
what, they still held their heads up high and taught the
students to the best of their ability, even while
knowing they were losing their jobs. I have to say, if
you want to make a difference in your community, write
to your state legislature. Tell them that at your
school, for the sake of your education, and your state,
you need a media specialist and art teacher, and all the
others that they are letting go due to budget cuts.
Without these people our educational system will falter,
and our state will not attract new businesses, and it
will not get better. Go ahead, lets see if we can help
them realize the mistake they are making by having our
wonderful educators
unemployed.
3-14-2010
March Reading Month is going great! We
visited so many other cool schools this week in Macomb
and Clinton Township, and met some of the nicest
people...thanks so much for your awesome hospitality -
you served us some of the most delightful lunches, and
awed us with your commitment to your students. Also,
thanks so much for the lovely gift basket. As we
continue with our visits through Reading Month, we are
so busy, that I have to fit my reading in late at night.
And you know what that means, scary reading and pulling
the covers over my head. Hope that you are doing the
same...reading scary books and getting frightened - so
much fun! We are off to visit more schools this week and
next, and will be presenting at the wonderful Michigan
Reading Association once again - something we really
look forward to. So, keep reading and think
Spring!
3-7-2010
March - Reading Month is here! Well, you know
what we say, every month should be reading month...last
week and this coming week we are the Author and
Illustrator in Residence for Macomb! And it's an
honor, let me tell you...and it's been so much fun! Last
week we visited 6 schools and did 12 presentations, and
at everyone of them we got you guys to promise us that
you would read more - and you know you can't break a
promise. Just mix it in with all of your other fun
stuff! It was so great meeting everyone at those schools
to, and we hope that we get to see you guys this year,
too! Remember to keep checking back to see the pieces of
the puzzle from the next Mick Morris Myth Solver book
come together - and email us if you think you know what
it is! Happy Reading
Month!
2-6-2010
We are getting really close to March Reading
Month (every month is reading month, right?) and getting
super excited to visit all of you! We have a packed
schedule and are booked solid now for March and April -
but if you want a fun visit to your school, just have
your teacher email us for May or June, or even next
year. See you soon!
From
Mick:
Hey everybody! It's been awhile since
we chatted. So glad that we made it back from Alaska
alive, man that was scary! Now, I can't wait to head out
for our next myth solving mission to...what? Oh, my
parents just said it's a secret - so stay tuned for the
exciting revealing of the next book through the puzzle
pieces. Keep in touch and keep reading!
1-24-10 We had a great time speaking
to teachers at Barnes & Noble this past week...but
one of the nicest things to come out of it for us was
this letter sent by one of the teacher/mom's who was
there. I have to tell you, when we get letters like
this, and find out how much you love our books - nothing
is more heart-warming and rewarding for us! Especially
because we know that you kids out there are reading!
Keep it up...it will allow you to follow your dreams -
just like we are doing!
Date: Friday, January 22,
2010, 8:24 PM
Hi-
I
was at your presentation last night at Barnes and Noble.
I purchased the Roswell book for my son Emory. He loved
it so much he finished the book (all 5 endings) today.
He read the silly ending to his sister and they were
both totally cracking up. Just wanted to let you know
how much my son enjoyed your work. Hope you have a great
weekend!
V.J.
PS- I asked him how he got
so much read during school. He said he hurried up and
finished all of his work so he could read more :
)
1-17-2010
We are
so excited that March Reading Month is almost
here...even though you know we think that every month
should be reading month - because it's soooooo
important. Anyway, we are happy to say that our March is
booked solid with fun school visits. And if we aren't
coming to your school - and you would like to see our
fun, edu-tainment presentation - then tell your teacher,
and have her get in touch with us. Also, some fun for
you on this website is that we will
slowly be revealing the thrilling new cover for Mick
Morris Myth Solver #6 - see if you can guess the
name, and what myth book #6 is about - very scary! Read
on!
12-20-2009
 Holidays are here!
And school break starts this week! I know we are
all looking forward to it. I also know that so
many of you have Mick Morris Myth Solver and Ghost Board
Posse to read when you need a break from the
festivities, and remember if do a little sketching, then
email it to us, we will post your drawing on this
website. Hope that each and every one of you get
all that you desire and have the happiest holiday season
ever! 2010 is gonna rock! Don't forget to follow
Mick Morris on Twitter. That's right, get tweets from
Mick himself! Search MickMorris on Twitter or
12-04-09
The sun is shining, and there is a sprinkling
of snow on the ground - perfect to get you in the
holiday spirit! Just think it's almost break time! We
hope that each and every one of you are looking forward
to happy holidays with some fun plans. Remember, it's
not really about getting stuff, but about having fun,
happy times with friends and family.
We're
heading out to a couple of our favorite bookstores in
Grand Rapids tomorrow and we hope to see some of our
friends on the west side of the state. Remember to tell
your teachers about our presentation, and hopefully
we'll see you at your school! So keep up your awesome
reading...and right now I have to get back to writing -
Ghost Board Posse #2 Aloha Haunts...very, very
scary!
11-10-09
Hello everyone! How are you enjoying this
warm weather? We are just loving it! It was especially
great when we headed over to the East side and had such
a great turn-out in these warm temps at the
Clinton-Macomb Library! It was so great meeting so many
new friends. Next week it's Utica Borders, and we hope
to see some of you there.
Just a quick note, for
any of you that want us to visit your school - we only
have two days left open in March - Reading Month. But
remember what we say, every month should be reading
month! Okay, the countdown is on for the Holidays!
Yippee! And that also means, only 3 months until the
release of the Mick Morris Myth Solver sketchbook -
Sketch the Myths, and Ghost Board Posse #2 Aloha Haunts
- which is super scary! Ouuu which reminds me...I am off
to read a scary book right
now...
10-10-09
Fall
is our favorite season...nothing like fall festivals,
booksignings, cider, donuts, and of course HALLOWEEN!
Muuuu-ha-ha-ha! If you are going to be something totally
cool or scary - be sure to drop us an email to let us
know! And, another cool thing about fall is what follows
it - and that's the holidays! We've got a whole list of
booksignings planned, so check out the front page for
that...and if we're in your area stop by for a free
poster with the purchase of your new book. Nothing quite
like curling up with a scary book on a cold night -
especially with the new Mick Morris Myth Solver #5
Abominable Snowman...A Frozen Nightmare! Now available
in stores. So check out our signings on the home page
and hopefully we'll see you there and in the meantime -
enjoy the fall!
9-20-09 It's
finally here! Mick Morris Myth Solver #5 Abominable
Snowman...A Frozen Nightmare! Here
we are checking out the books, as they are getting ready
to ship to the distributor, so they can get them to your
local bookstores. In the picture is our fab rep - the
lovely Ms. Renee Lane at McNaughton & Gunn in
Saline. Oh yeah, these books are totally Michigan! We
need to take care of our own Michigan peeps.
Anyway, we are so excited, and think you will
be, too! Because this book is ultra fun and scary. Be
sure to give your local bookstore a call - to make sure
they have it on their shelves waiting for you and get
ready for some thrilling, chilling, scary myth solving!
And pretty soon we will be releasing the awesome Sketch
the Myths sketchbook from you know who - the most
totally awesome artist ever - Darrin Brege!
For
any of our west side of Michigan friends, be sure to
stop by and see us at the Rockford Heritage Festival in
Rockford, Michigan on Saturday, October 10Th at Aunt
Candy's Toy Company booth. See you
then!
8-17-09 Can you even believe it?
Oh yeah, I know we believe in myths...but, this time I
am talking about how the end of summer is almost
here! Here's my thought...since summer kind of
waited awhile to get really hot...then maybe it will
stay warm until November for us - wouldn't that be
great? And speaking of hot, on these hot summer days if
you happen to be out in the wilderness doing things like
camping or hiking...be careful of rattlesnakes - no
kidding - these are no myth! We came across one, that
was right in our path this past weekend, and it made us
think about being careful...especially on Myth Solving
Missions! Anyway, stay safe and please, please
enjoy these remaining few weeks of summer
vacation! And if you want some thrills and chills,
then get ready for Mick Morris Myth Solver #5 Abominable
Snowman...A Frozen Nightmare! to give you some chills!
Chills start on bookstore shelves beginning of
September!
7-24-09
Nothing quite like summer in July (even if it
isn't 90, or even 80 degree's out), it's still
summertime, so that is cool. Hope that you are having a
great one, getting out there and enjoying every bit of
it. Okay, just gotta say one thing that totally bugs me
is seeing back-to-school supplies in stores - can you
just wait a few more weeks PUH-LEEZE! Ridiculous...just
ignore it!
But if you are in bookstores, the one
thing that you can't ignore is that 'Mick Morris Myth
Solver #5 Abominable Snowman...A Frozen Nightmare!' will
be on store shelves the end of August. And you'll still
have some campfire or beach reading time for it!
Also, big announcement here - coming this winter
- Sketch the Myths! A complete how -to-draw the myths
and other creatures for all of you budding artists.
You'll love this sketchbook, we'll keep you posted on
details. Okay, nuff said - enjoy the sunshine!
Mick Morris
is Tweeting all the time about his adventures, Nathan,
monsters, and Sissy. Click here to go to our
Twitter page!

Back from a relaxing vacation and some
bookstore visits in Florida. Got lots of Mick Morris
fans down there reading on the beach...But you know,
it's always good to be home. Gotta share one of
the most exciting parts of our trip with you. We
took a ghost tour in St. Augustine, Florida, which is
known as one of the most haunted cities in
America. Well sure enough, we weren't completely
convinced - until late at night on the tour we captured
this weird orb in a picture! We took tons of pics
before and tons after and it only showed in two, and the
second photo it looks like it's floating away!
There were no bugs or other lights anywhere
around! Everyone on the tour was pretty freaked out,
except the tour guide. He said every once in
awhile someone on the tour will capture one on a camera!
Pretty creepy - had to be a ghost! Got us excited about
wrapping up the next Ghost Board Posse book #2 Aloha
Haunts! karenimprov: So, Happy 4th of
July! Time to celebrate! Hope that you plan
on seeing some exciting fireworks! We can't wait to see
all of our friends who emailed us from up north and plan
on stopping by to say hi in Traverse City next week -
see you then!
6-7-09
Hey there Mick Morris friends and fans, even
though it's not hot enough outside to believe
it...summer vacation is finally here! We hope that you
have some cool things planned for this summer. Whether
you are going on a vacation, or just doing a staycation
make sure that you get outside, have fun, and have some
exciting books for scary, summer reading! Some perfect
times for that are around a campfire, on a beach, or
just curled up inside during a summer thunderstorm.
The Mick Morris team is heading south to check
out some of the ghosts of St. Augustine, Florida, one of
the most haunted cities in the United States! They are
even staying in the haunted Casa Monica Hotel! Then it's
onto Disney for a relaxing summer break. But, they will
be back for the release their frightening new book, Mick
Morris Myth Solver #5 The Abominable Snowman...A Frozen
Nightmare! That'll keep you cool with chills this
summer! Check back to find out where the fun release
party will be this August...and keep reading!
5-25-09
Happy
Memorial Day! Hope that you are having a good one -
barbeque's, friends, family and fun. There are some
great movies out too - our recommendations - Star Trek
and Night at the Museum 2 - which was hilarious. And
remember, to take a moment to think of all of those
brave soldiers who fought for our
country.
5-18-09
I love our Ohio neighbors (okay, okay, except
for on game day)! What a fantastic time we had at the
8Th Annual Claire's Day! We visited wonderful schools
with terrific kids (see the photo's page) and we met
some of the nicest people, and that's including a ton of
other famous and fun authors and illustrators (see http://www.clairesday.org/).
But more importantly this was just a fantastic event,
one to be remembered in honor of Claire. The amazing
community of people in Toledo and the surrounding areas
speak volumes for taking care of each other and being
kind to one another. If you have never attended Claire's
Day, make it a point to go-you won't be disappointed! A
giant thanks and kudos to the Rubini family and each and
every one of the Claire's Day
volunteers.
5-3-09
Okay...when you go into a cool comic book
store on nice Saturday afternoon in May in Ann Arbor,
what is the last thing that you expect to see? If you
answered the Abominable Snowman then you are
right! How wild is it that? Especially since the
next Mick Morris Myth Solver book #5 Abominable
Snowman...A Frozen Nightmare! is almost out! We couldn't
believe it-talk about a surprise, of course there were
others that day at the Vault of Midnight too, like
Stormtroopers, free comic books, ice cream. We love that
place...but the Abominable is the best-except that this
one is cuddly and ours is super scary! Coming
soon!!!
4-10-2009
Happy
Spring! Happy Easter! Happy Passover! Hope that you've
been having an awesome Spring Break! We had a great
Reading Month-as many of you know (we visited 14
schools). Each and every school was fantastic. We met so
many amazing students, teachers, principals and PTO
people. It was a delight to hear about so many of the
students aspirations-you know you can do whatever you
dream of, so never, ever, ever give up. Also, we will
post the winning entry for our "I Met A Myth" writing
contest soon.
This month we are really excited to
be presenting for the Children's Literature Conference
in Auburn Hills at Oakland Community College (and there
are still a few spaces left-if you are an aspiring
author or illustrator. Here is the number for more info
248-341-2000). Next month, we feel truly privileged to
be a part of the wonderful Claire's Day Festival in
Maumee, Ohio http://www.clairsday.org/This
is something that can't be missed. It will be a
fantastic day of Children's book authors and
illustrators from throughout the Midwest (and beyond!),
local Storytellers, family entertainment, book related
hands-on activities and much more. So hopefully we will
see you there!
3-7-2009
Spring is in the air...and so is Reading
Month! We hope that you are happily enjoying this warm
spell (let's hope it stays) and finding lots of great
books to read this month...doesn't matter what it is,
just keep reading! We started out Reading Month visiting
Romeo and Melvindale, and had a great time at both! If
we aren't lucky enough to visit your school this month,
there is still April and May...just tell your teacher or
Media Specialist about us. Every school deserves an
author or illustrator visiting their school (or
both-like us) to get the whole story on reading, writing
and art! So, keep reading, it will take you places
you've never imagined...and Happy Reading Month!
2-15-2009
Wow...nothing like a little bit of warm
weather to get us thinking Spring and Summer! Even
though Winter popped it's chilly head back up, we are
busy gearing up for a fun, exciting and busy Spring! We
are now completely booked for March Reading Month, but
you guys know what we always say...every month should be
reading month! So, if you want us to visit your school
we have plenty of dates in April and May. Those are
perfect times to gear up for Summer beach and camping
reading! Also, for those of you who have requested AR
tests, we now have them (thanks to Dr. Katherine Ellis).
So, just have your teacher or Media Specialist email us
at mickmorrisinfo@yahoo.com and we will happily send
them to your school. Remember too, don't let reading be
a drag (just cuz of AR) make it fun, by reading what you
enjoy.
1-25-2009
Hi
Everyone! We hope you're having a great 2009 so far
! Well you know we usually don't blog to you about
anything much than our Mick Morris adventures...But
today's a little different. Today, we just want to
give a shout out to Stoney, Wojo, and all the other
great people that made up WDFN. We will miss you guys,
tons!!! Also, a Happy Birthday to Stoney - nothing like
a bunch of us playing whirlyball to celebate your
birthday! Great party, great friends, great time -
thanks for all of it. For you Mick Morris friends of
ours, know that there is nothing like good friends and
family, most important to us all...good thing that we
have a great new family in the White House - things are
looking up! Keep sending those awesome emails, as well
as your entries for the I
MET A MYTH WRITING CONTEST! Tell your teachers...win
some prizes! Stay warm, happy and keep
reading!
12-20-08
We
really are looking forward to the holidays, you know
settling in with family and friends, laughing, sharing,
giving and all that wonderful stuff that goes with this
time of year. Now, we all know that times are tough, and
we have to take care of our own in Michigan (that
couldn't be more clear lately). So, besides
giving, and donating to needy causes, be sure to support
everything made in Michigan! That means buying
things made in Michigan, and includes when you go into a
bookstore, ask your bookseller for books by Michigan
authors and illustrators, cuz the more we take care of
our own, the better off we will all be! Hope that your
holidays are wonderful and filled with
laughter, love and joy! And don't forget to totally
enjoy!
Also, get those pencils moving over the
break! Enter our fantastic writing
contest now! Tell your friends...tell your
teacher! Win some books, gift basket, and a classroom
visit from Karen!
12-7-08
A little bit chilly outside isn't it?
Not, too, cold to visit you guys! We happily started our
author/illustrator in residence in Novi Middle School -
and what a great time we had! Dr. Ellis' talented group
of 6th graders are each writing their own book -
everything from historical to sports themed. We had a
great time helping them get started, we even did some
cool stuff to get the creative juices flowing - and we
know it worked! We will be back in January, and can't
wait to see what they have written!
We also
trudged our way out to Rochester Barnes & Noble
yesterday (yes, in that blizzard!), and had a fantastic
time! They were so welcoming, and helpful - which made
our event a huge success. Also, a gi-nourmous
congratulations to all of the art students who received
their recognition awards - we have just been meeting so
many talented kids - whose hearts are in the arts...keep
it going young friends!
From Mick - Hello everyone, and happy
holidays! We hope that you get to enjoy the season, by
giving and taking care of others. This year we
won't be travelling to film until January, and it's
gonna be cold.. .YIKES!!! Be back soon, gotta help mom
clean the house...YUK!
11-16-08
The
holidays are almost here, and that makes us totally
happy! What's on your list? Anyone want a
Mick Morris? Write us and tell us why, and we
might just send you one. In the meantime don't forget to
enter and share our cool writing contest 'I Met a Myth!'
with your teacher, and you might just win a free visit
to your school. Stay warm, and cozy up with a good scary
read like Mick Morris or Ghost Board
Posse!
11-1-08 Hope that you had a
totally fun and scary Halloween! It's hard to believe
that it's over.. .all the ghosts are saying 'BOOHOO!'
Okay, that was a totally lame joke - I know.
Here is the latest and greatest news...It's time
for another WRITING CONTEST - oh yeah! This one
is called "I Met a Myth!" To enter the contest,
just write a short story (the length is up to you-it can
be a paragraph or ten pages) about how you actually met
a myth. You can add a chapter to the Mick Morris books,
or you can make up your own. It can be an existing myth,
or one that you make up. What we are looking for in your
story is dialog, interaction, and action between you and
the myth.
You can enter the contest by yourself,
or your teacher can have your entire class enter. Make
sure that your entry in neatly typed, or if it is hand
written we need to be able to read it. Now, I know you
are thinking, "Well, like what will I win?" (Insert
drumroll here) You will win a visit to your
classroom by Karen Bell-Brege, a set of books for you
and your school library, a small surprise for every
class member, your picture and entry posted on our
website and a gift basket! This is the contest of all
contests! Isn't that totally cool and worth it? So have
fun and write on! Click
here to find out more or print out a sheet for your
teacher.
Please send all entries
to: I Met a Myth Contest, Team B Creative, 9864 E. Grand
River, Suite 110, No. 244, Brighton, MI 48116

You can just feel the fright in the air as
Halloween is getting closer and closer! Isn't it just
totally exciting? If there is anyone out there who
doesn't like Halloween, you need to write to us at mickmorrisinfo@yahoo.com
and tell us why you don't. Speaking of writing, get
those pencils and paper ready because we are gearing up
for the next Mick Morris Myth Solver writing contest for
elementary schools, and Ghost Board Posse for middle
schools. We're busy putting together a cool
contest - with a really great prize. So, check back here
often, because the contest will be posted in the next
few weeks! Who doesn't love a good contest...or a good
book? Tom Hanks does!
And now here are a few words from Mick...
Yeah Halloween is coming and I can't wait;
even though I am not quite sure what I am going to be.
I'm still totally excited. I think that this year my
costume will just be something random. It doesn't matter
though, cuz the fun is all about that frightening, scary
night of October 31st - WHHHOOOOO HAAAAAAA
HAAAAAA!
2-21-2008
Wow, what a fun busy week! It started with
the Maltby Book Fair (a super big thanks to the promoter
of the year Kathy, and to the wonderful Media
Specialists!), then a talk at the Royal Oak Public
Library. If you want to support Michigan
Authors and Illustrators, make sure you ask your
Media Specialists to include them in your book fairs.
Also, a big thanks to everyone that
joined us this weekend! What a great time. Check out the
photos
section to see your pic and a special signing appearance
of Mick, Nathan, and Sissy (character models Karl and
Katie)! And please be sure to click on the Book Trailer
logo to see the new fantastic Mick
Morris Myth Solver book trailer. Or, check out
the Ghost
Board Posse trailer that Mick, himself, put
together! He did the editing, animation and voice
over...and here is what he has to say...
Hi everyone! Thanks for your comments on
the Ghost Board Posse trailer, and I am now happy that
the Mick Morris Myth Solver book trailer is finished and
ready for you to see. For those of you who asked
me questions on how I make my movies, I work in
Pinnacle Studios, Poser, and Anime Studio. The best way
to learn them is just to create your movie and then
teach yourself by doing it. The tutorials help
too. Well, now I am just goofing around on Spore,
got some homework too -YUK!
9-12-08
Last night I had the awesome opportunity
to be a part of a fantastic panel that the esteemed
writer Cindy LaFerle put together at the Royal Oak
Public Library. For anyone interested in writing - these
are can't miss sessions, in fact I have one there next
Wednesday, September 17Th at 7:00pm. I'll be speaking
about the Mick Morris Myth Solver books and the Ghost
Board Posse book. Then on Thursday, September 18Th the
panel will be back at 7:00pm.
And here is
totally cool news...Maltby Middle School is having a
book fair and asked us to be a part of it! So in
this pic you can see our books on display...And if you
school is having a book fair, and you ask them to have
us, and they do...we'll give you a free book! So be sure
to talk to your Media Specialist and have them email us!
Also, thanks so much for our friends that have
been popping into our bookstores signings to see us! A
special hello to our friend pictured above from Allen
Park. Check out the schedule on the front page to see
where we will be!
Now from Mick:
School is cool! No kidding, I am really
enjoying it this year! I'm also glad that our next myth
solving mission isn't until winter. Mom and dad promised
that it will be a really fun place and somewhere that I
can snowboard - so I am totally excited! But the only
thing that bothers me...is what kind of myth has
anything to do with snow. If you know, drop me an email.
Happy weekend!
8-19-2008 A great big hello to all
of our friends that we saw last weekend in Ann Arbor and
Novi - thanks for stopping by! Also, this coming
weekend, if you happen to be in the Allen Park area, be
sure to pop into the Allen Park Barnes & Noble and
say 'HI!' Especially if you are out shopping for school
clothes...Oh no I mentioned it didn't I, SCHOOL. Can you
believe it's almost here? The good news is that we
will be seeing some of you when we visit your
school. And if we don't have your school on our
list, just have your teacher email us and hopefully we
will be able to visit you're school as well.. And
Ghost Board Posse fans...be sure to check out your pics
on http://www.ghostboardposse.com/,
Mick Morris book lovers, see your pics on this site,
just click on photo's
from visits.
Hi everyone! My friends and I
have been watching the olympics and all I can say is, Go
Michael Phelps! Totally cool! But, I really think
that anyone that puts in as much practice, and hard work
as these atheletes deserves a gold medal! Well, I can't
believe that school is only two weeks away and my
parents won't even tell me where the next myth solver
mission is! I must do some snooping and find out!
Okay, gotta go back to school shopping now -
yuk!
7-25-2008
Well we are cruising through summer a little
to fast for me...but it has been great! I hope
that everyone is enjoying their summer (including Brad
and Angelina - pictured), and getting lots of summer
reading in too! Check both this site and www
.ghostboardposse.com for all of our upcoming
bookstore visits! See ya there! Also, check the
photo page on both sites for updated
pictures.
7-13-2008 Just
can't wait to see some of our 'Up North' friends this
coming week! And, for those of you who didn't know
that we were heading up that way, please be sure to
check out all of the super locations that we'll be at on
http://www.ghostboardposse.com/
And speaking of Ghost Board Posse, thanks to those of
you who have sent in your great reviews! Here is one of
them...
"This book is an awesome thriller!
This book is full of action and grabs you! I never
wanted to put it down. there was not one slow part! All
action, all the time! I recommend this book to anyone
who enjoys anything scary or full of fun and
excitement!" --Aden Kuehnl Student Age 12
Thanks Aden! If anyone wants to pick up your
scary Ghost Board Posse #1 London Screaming! Just head
out to your local bookstore. Also, for our Birmingham
and Bloomfield friends be sure to look for the article
that is coming out in the August issue of Signature
Magazine! Keep having fun in the summertime sun!
And now here's Mick...
What a great summer! Camp was about the most fun I could've ever
had! I took the Outdoor Sportsmen program and did the
zipline (which was really, really high up), canoed,
swam, archery, rifle practice, hiked, basketball,
campfires and more! What a blast...I just love
summertime, but just between you and me, I have heard
rumors that the Myth Solver show is heading for a winter
taping, and I'm just not ready for that...So, gotta go
for now ...Keep livin' it up in the
summer!
6-14-2008 Hey everybody!
School's out! Isn't that fantastic? Lot's of our friends
have written to us asking us why we don't update our
blog more often...well I promise you we will. Just had
some major surgery and took awhile to get back in action
- but doing great now (for those of you who didn't know
I injured my hip doing comedy while impersonating James
Brown and doing the splits!).
Okay, the latest
news...and this is big - 'Ghost Board Posse #1 London
Screaming' has been released and is now available
at your bookstore! Remember when we saw you, we said
that it is for readers 10 plus (unless you get your
parents permission) because it is SCARY!!! In fact when
I was home alone writing it, if I heard a noise in the
house, I would jump! So, be sure to check it
out... here is the website http://www.ghostboardposse.com/.
We
just got this from our friend, Justin! It was
great running into you Justin and glad to hear that you
like Champ!
Here's the latest from
Mick...
I am so glad that it's summer vacation! I can
hardly believe that it's here! The break started out
great by having my buddy Jake for the weekend! And then
next week I go to camp - talk about fun. I would
love to hear what you are doing for your summer break!
Okay, about 'Ghost Board Posse #1 London
Screaming.' I read it and it is SCARY! I'm not kidding -
it's not like any kids books. I had to put it down
at night cuz I got freaked out. The characters and
skateboarding tricks in it are totally cool. You
gotta check it out. Have a great summer!
5-20-2008
Okay, who's fired
up to see Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal
Skull this week? We are big time. In fact,
we're looking forward to seeing Karen Allen return as
Marion Ravenwood in the movie. Here are a couple of
pictures from 2006 where Darrin had the opportunity to
interview her for WDFN. She was very very nice and we're
totally glad she's back playing, not only Indy's
girlfriend...but Shia Labeouf's mom! We can't
wait! She also signed a Marion Ravenwood Disney
Park exclusive action figure for us. Too
cool.
4-30-2008
Hi
friends...and by the way thanks for the super nice
emails and drawings (check out the new ones on Your
Sketches). Now I have to say that I don't like
ending our school visits - but I sure love the fact that
summer is coming! What better time than summer to grab a
Mick Morris Myth Solver book to read around a spooky
campfire or on a rainy summer night...Mick Morris books
are even great for reading on the beach! I know I
am getting my scary reading material together for summer
reading - so check back often and I will let you in on
what I'm reading...here's a few words from
Mick...
Hi! The countdown for the end of
the school year has started and we are at 32 days of
actual school left! Will I miss school you ask?
Only my friends...plus you guys know how I am into
robotics and movie making and stuff like that so I am
going to a super cool summer camp this year for video
game creation. Yep and I can't wait! Write back
and let me know what kind of exciting summer camp you
are going to.
TTYL!

A big shout
out to Doherty and Lone Pine Elementary Schools...it was
so great to meet everyone! Check out some of the
photo's on the 'Photo's
From Visits page!' Also, be sure to join us this
Saturday at the brand new big Ann Arbor Borders
Bookstore! We'll be there at noon. It is one of
the coolest stores. We also can't wait to show you
Mick's latest surprise for you...we should have it here
sometime this coming weekend...Speaking of, here he
is...
Hi everybody! I can't
believe that it's Tuesday already...because I have a
huge report due. I am almost done, but I REALLY want to
head outside cuz it's sooo nice out! Anyway hope
you are all doing great and I'm surprised that this is
the last quarter of school...but you aren't going to
believe what happened on our last myth solving mission.
Yikes, it was a close one, and the stories that my
parents have...all I can say is that if you thought that
the Abominable Snowman was fake...you will think
again!
4-6-2008 Yeah! Spring
is finally here...well for those of us in Michigan
anyway (some of you have been lucky enough to have warm
weather already). As you know, we've been super busy
visiting so many of our great friends at schools,
libraries and bookstores this past winter. And we want
to thank you for all of your cool emails - especially
Pat Pullis' group of aspiring writers and artists in
Warren! We just happily posted all of the totally
cool stories and artwork right here on the website just
or visit the link on the "your sketches" page.
It's a new page called "writings."
I just love it when I get to see true creativity!
I have to tell you too, that last night Mr. Brege and I
were watching the coolest story about Champ on the
Discover Channel...so if you think it's a myth - you
just have to see these stories! Enjoy the great
weather! Here are a few words from Mick...
 Hi everybody! Just got
home a little while ago, I got to spend the night at my
friend Joey's. We had a blast! Watched scary
movies, played video games and basketball - just fun!
Got tons of homework to do tonight though. I
really think that homework should be illegal on
weekends. So, I've been saving my money to buy
some totally cool software and I will be making some new
animated short films...just as soon as I learn
everything that the program can do - it's awesome
though. Oh and I was lucky enough over the break to get
to see my best friend Nathan, and my stinky cousin
Sissy- check them out in the photo here. Oh yeah, just
in case you wonder what happened to Nathan's black hair,
he got a bit part in one of his dads films and had to
dye it. When he gets back to LA, they are going to dye
it back for him. Have a great week!

 | What a wonderful
time we had at the Fox Theater in downtown Detroit last
Saturday night. We went to see comedian and
impressionist Frank Caliendo. You may know him from his
Dish Network commercials, Mad TV, or the NFL on Fox.
He's best know for impersonating George Bush and John
Madden. Darrin got to chat with Frank briefly while at
WDFN doing some impression work of his own. He's a nice
guy...and funny! You'll see us pictured with our radio
friends [from the left] Stoney, his wife Cindy, Matt
Sheppard (Ole' Shep), his wife Lisa, and Wojo. It was
through Stoney, and Frank, that put us pretty close to
the stage! Thanks a bunch!!!
Spring is in the
air! At least that's what we're counting on anyway!
Thanks for all of your emails on the Mick Morris Alien
Video, and since we've received so many, wanting to know
if it's real or not, we'll answer all of you at the same
time - yes the video is real. Now as far as the alien -
that is for you to decide. Mick has a few things
that he wanted to share... 2-29-08
Hey friends how's it goin? Sorry I haven't
written lately but have been super swamped with
homework! And basketball - which by the way the
Brighton Blizzards have now won two games - hooray team!
We all worked really hard to do so too! So hard
that Ian broke his nose - but he is fine now. Everybody
on my team really works together and hustles! It's
totally cool. Hope you have a great week and
ttyl!
Last night we
attended one of the coolest events ever at the Music
Hall in Detroit! The three of us went to see Chris
Gardner speak...Now if you don't know who Chris Gardner
is, he is the man who the movie 'The Pursuit of
Happyness' was made about. The movie starred Will Smith
as Gardner, a man who against all odds took care of his
little boy, while broke, homeless, and struggling to
follow the career of his dreams. It was
fascinating to hear how this man transformed his life,
proving that anyone can do whatever they want in
life. After the event, the best part about the
night was when Mr. Gardner's bodyguards were escorting
him offstage to the private party, we went up to him and
Darrin asked if he would autograph Mick's book.
Mr. Gardner said, "Mick? Where's Mick?" He then had Mick
walk with him while surrounded by people, all the way to
the top of the theater chatting with him. He signed
Mick's book and told him to keep making his movies. We
tried to get pics, but as you can see it was hard to do.
Thank you Mr. Gardner – you are truly an
inspiration!

It was a blizzard
yesterday as we headed out to visit Westview, Mound Park
and Schofield! We can't thank you enough! And it was so
much fun! Be sure to check out all the cool pics on the
photo page. For those of you who haven't seen the alien
video, just click on the You Tube logo on our home page
or right here.
Then, if you want a 'Super Spanish Lesson with Pedro,'
just click here.
It's some of Mick's best editing, writing and directing
and it's hilarious! Thanks for all of your emails from
yesterday, and we will be getting back to you and have
all of your drawings up very soon on our "your sketches"
page!
Latest news on the book front is that 'The
Abominable Snowman...A Frozen Nightmare' will be coming
soon! And more good news is on the way!
Here's
the latest with Mick:
Hey everyone! Hope you had fun yesterday! I
know I did! Let's see, we are into basketball season and
I have been busy making movies...as you can see my mom
brags about them (above) I heard from Nathan and he made
a movie too-even though he gets to go on the real sets
with his dad all the time. Okay, gotta go...got a ton,
and I mean a ton of homework to do. YUK! Plus basketball
practice tonight! I'll have some cool news for you next
week!
2-10-08 Brrrrrrrrrr! Okay it's
a little chilly out wouldn't you say? But here is
something you can do...send us a self-addressed envelope
with two stamps (the post office makes us do that if
there is anything heavier than paper inside the
envelope) and we will send you one of our brand new
totally cool bookmarks! Free! But make sure your
envelope is neatly addressed to yourself and that there
are two stamps on the envelope to yourself (otherwise we
can't mail it). Put that envelope in another one and
send it to: Mick Morris Free Bookmark, 9864 E. Grand
River, Suite 110, #244, Brighton, MI 48116 and we will
happily send you one! Here's the latest in Mick
thoughts...
MMB
Hey everyone, hope your cool with the cold
weather (ha - get it?). Anyway I've been AIMing with a
lot of friends and some of them want to know why Sissy
drives me crazy. Well here is a perfect example - this
is an email she sent me yesterday.
Hi Mick Why are you so lame and you
haven't written back to me? Do you think that you can
just avoid me? I am your cousin you know. So anyway I
wanted to know if boys think that leggings look cool on
girls? Also, I am totally excited to come over to your
parents house next weekend, but can you make sure that
your mom makes salad for me? Anyway my friend got
a love letter. Who do you like? I like Jared. And
I got some totally cool new pink sneakers for spring.
Gotta go! See ya!
Leggings! Pink
Sneakers! Salad! And who do I like?!!! UGH! Sissy bugs
me!
1-27-08
Hope that
everybody is keeping warm...Especially if you're hitting
the slopes! We have a busy week coming up with lots of
exciting meetings for some of our upcoming new plans -
but for right now they're a secret, as soon as the plans
are in place you'll be the first we tell. For all of our
great friends asking about the next book, 'Abominable
Snowman...A Frozen Nightmare!' Things have been a little
delayed because of our new series 'Ghost Board Posse
Book #1 London Screaming!' A totally scary book which
will give you ultimate chills! But we are working on
Abominable, so we'll keep you posted. Here's Mick...
MMB
Hey everybody, what a crazy week!
Basketball started and it was a blast having my dad
coach! Plus I got lucky enough to have a lot of my
friends from school on my team. School has been, well,
what can I say - school. Report cards are coming out in
a couple of weeks and I think I did pretty good. On
Monday two of my classes change and for one of them I
have gym - yuk that means that I will have to change
clothes and then race like a madman to Martin's class
trying not to be a millimeter of a second late! Anyway
my pal Joey is on his way over and were gonna jam on
Guitar Hero-ya gotta love that game. Hey forgot to tell
ya, my bud Nathan and I keep in touch by email and he
gets to go to the SAG awards tonight! DUDE! Like you are
so luckeeeeeyyyy! Have an awesome week!
1-15-2008
DUN DAH-DAH-DAHHHH! It
gives us great pleasure to announce the 3 winners of the
My Best Holiday Memory contest! They are Erin B of
Huntington Woods, Miles S of Grand Rapids and Joey H of
Fort Wayne!!! Congrats to all of you! Within the next
week you will be receiving a set of Mick Morris Books
and a poster too! Now let's hear from
Mick...
MMB (Mick Morris' Blog)
Okay, so I like snow and everything and enjoy
snowboarding occassionally but when it gets to be this
time of year, I am ready for some fun in the sun. Does
anybody have any cool vacations planned? All I know is
our next vacation is to more snow! But that's cool, I'll
just make the best of it. So today I forgot my homework
and that was a major drag because it was done, but I
left it at home! If I were a teacher I'd cut a kid a
break! Hey, I am looking forward to basketball...and
since we do have a break between now and the next Myth
Solving mission, my dad is going to coach with my
friends dad! Is that totally cool or what? Stay
warm! ttyl MM
1-6-2008 Happy New Year

on MickMorris.com. But first, we are so excited
with all the entries that we have recieved for the Mick
Morris Myth Solver, My Best Holiday Memory Contest! The
top three entries will be able to view their stories
right here on the Mick Morris website and will each
receive a set of books! So watch for that next
week.
New features? Check out the "MICK
SNAPS" on the front page featuring action figures we
found that look like Mick, Nathan, and Sissy. Basically,
it's just like a comic strip that we'll swap our every
week or so. If you have an idea for one, email it
here.
Also, we have had sooooo many questions in
regards to Mick Morris himself that we are excited to be
adding a weekly blog from Mick , so here we
go!
MICK MORRIS BLOG:
Hey everyone how's it goin? I gotta say that
aside from trying to catch up with some reading for my
AR quiz, I have just been enjoying myself with some of
the latest games that I got. Especially for my new PSP.
It's awesome and totally cool how I can log on the web
with it.
This past week was a blast because it was my
birthday and I had a sleepover with some great
friends...you guys know who you are! We totally spooked
ourselves out by telling ghost stories all night and
then the next day you won't believe when we recorded
ourselves with my video camera in the mirror of the
bathroom doing that old tale of 'Bloody Mary' something
really happened and I am not joking! This weird hissing
sound was picked up on the camera. We were all totally
freaked out.. .and I know it's not just because we
stayed up till 4 am - much to my parents telling us to
go to sleep - lol. So if any of you have had any freaky
experiences like that, drop me an email and let me know!
Anyway I am going to have to try to talk them into
looking into that freaky myth! So back to school
tommorow -YUK! ttyl
