We all know there is nothing more important than reading! And in Michigan we are lucky enough to have the most inspiring, committed organization - the Michigan Reading Association. This past weekend Darrin and I were lucky enough to be invited to speak at their wonderful 52nd Annual Conference! Take a look at some of the great pics below...
Here we are with some of the wonderful organizers of this fantastic event. Also, here are some of your great teachers and media specialists.
We had a fantastic crowd at our session! Thanks for joining us, each and everyone of you are just awesome!

2-26-08 Three schools in Warren!

Not rain, nor sleet, nor snow...will keep us away from visiting wonderful Warren schools! Yesterday morning we dug our way out and hopped into the car at 6:00am (very sleepily-I might add) and headed out to Warren...and let me tell you it was well worth it! We had so much fun and met so many wonderful people! Our first visit was to Westview Elementary - a very special thank you to Pat Pullis, who is just awesome! As you can see in the  photo's below, we had a blast. Also thanks to principal Denise Kluck. It was great seeing Marie again too!

Then it was off to Mound Park Elementary, where we had the chance to work with the wonderful Arlene Schoenherr (you just gotta appreciate your wonderful Media Specialists). And also a big thank you to Sean DeSarbo. As you can see in the pics we were lucky to have Mick along with us. The students had a great time asking Mick lots of questions about the books...as well as his moviemaking!

Then we had a delightful lunch - thanks so very much! Next we headed over to Schofield Elementary for more laughter and fun! Thanks again to Pat, Arlene and also to Donna Anderson. Everyone was so welcoming and kind at all the schools that it made us feel right at home! So remember everyone - follow your dreams! And one last important thing, we have to say how impressed we were with the outstanding politeness and behavior of all the students at all the schools - keep up the good work, you guys rock!  One last note about our visit to Warren, and how could I forget?  I want to thank the students who made those totally cool Mick Morris hats and did the fantastic billboard and Bigfoot posters-we loved them!

Everyone there was so kind and helpful!  It was great seeing Crystal and Joan again and meeting Mike and Laura and everyone else.  The store (which is a new concept store) is just unbelievable - while we were signing they had the ability to take our picture and print it out immediatlely for the guests that were in the photo with us...in this pic we are happy to be posing with the wonderful staff (pictured but not in order) Mike, Laura, Krista, Maggie, Lauren, Joe, Crystal, Melanie, and Kandice.  So if you want to visit one totally awesome bookstore with the nicest people in town head to Ann Arbor! And by the way thanks so much for having us!
