5-16-09 Claire's Day, Maumee OH

Even if there was a bit of rain, you would never have known it at this event! It was the 8th Annual Claire's Day in Maumee and by the smiles on people's faces and fun that they were having there was total sunshine! One spectacular event in honor of Claire Rubini. A gi-normous thanks to Julie Rubini and congrats to her on her first and wonderful book - Hidden Ohio. Also, thanks to Brad Rubini, and every single other person that cares enough about reading and children to have donated all of their time and energy - this should be a National event!

Miami Elementary was probably one of the nicest places we have ever had the honor to present in...and a big reason for that is the very kind Principal Fertig and all of his lovely staff. Which of course means that kindness and wonderful manners are followed right down to the students, because it starts at the top! All we can say is thank you! (P.S. Lunch was super delicious too!)

First of all a big thanks to Dr. Katherine Ellis (one of the most wonderful teachers we have ever met) who through a grant, brought us in as Author and Artist in Residence at Novi Meadows this Winter.  Our goal was to guide her students through the project of  writing, and illustrating their own books...and they succeeded by doing some of the most creative, interesting books!  We also presented to the entire school, and found that the place abounds with creativity...and that is mostly due to teachers like Dr. Ellis! Thanks for having us, it was our pleasure.
